He rejoices over us with singing

April 21, 2017 by Kristin 8 Comments

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” – Zephaniah 3:17

Ben’s skin is well on its way to healed so I was hoping for a normal week. That’s kind of like praying for patience, isn’t it?

The tearing down & rebuilding of the deck that used to be outside the kitchen doors began. My congestion landed heavily in my left ear, so I went to the doctor to have my suspected ear infection confirmed. Then the next day Cate had strep throat and ran a fever of at least 100.

Some normal meals, conversations, and errands happened. I still loaded and unloaded the dishwasher, did multiple loads of laundry, lotioned Ben’s face and hands, and chased a toddler. But we’ve had interruptions, two antibiotics to remember to take, and extra hammering right in the midst of our daily lives.

I guess, really, that is indeed normal.

And God always shows up.

Even more than that, He saves us, delights in us, and rejoices over us with singing.

Hear God sing over us even when life is interrupted.

When I saw the Five Minute Friday prompt last night when I was laying on the couch, I immediately thought of this verse. I wish I could remember the worship song with these words I used to know. Regardless, I’m joining Kate Motaung and the FMF crew for this weekly writing challenge. Take the prompt, write for five minutes flat, and share.

That verse was one of the first things I thought of too. Loved your perspective and I do hope everyone is feeling better soon. I’m your FMF neighbor : )

Wow, you have really had a tough time! But you can draw comfort from those words of Scripture even in the midst of it. Thank you for sharing.

You deserve a break friend! Hopefully everyone will be returned to health soon. But you’re right.. he does sing over us even in the midst of the interruptions. I’m in the 49 spot this week.

Y’all, this is (was?) our road after yesterday’s insane amount of rain. The almost 4 inches in the morning did this. I’m thankful for house on higher ground and another way out, even if we have to wind around country roads to get where we are going. #countryliving #reallife #kentuckyweather #choosingJOY

A new book by a favorite author is always a welcom A new book by a favorite author is always a welcomed thing, and @kristinhannahauthor didn’t disappoint. Plus it was my @bookofthemonth pick.

#TheFourWinds is set during some sad years with the Dust Bowl, migration to California, and the Great Depression. Yet this is a story of hope and belonging. Hope kept a mom and her two kids going, despite circumstances that destroyed. Hope led to this mom finding her voice, recognizing her worth, and discovering love that lasts.

Seven weeks after quadruple bypass heart surgery, Seven weeks after quadruple bypass heart surgery, my mother-in-law moved home today. We were happy to care for her and we are thrilled she’s doing so well.

I knew she was faithful and strong before, but watching her recovery from open heart surgery convinced me even more of her steadfastness and courage.

Often I don’t want the weekend to end or the sea Often I don’t want the weekend to end or the season to change, but I’m looking forward to Monday after three weeks of quarantine and sickness then snow. I’m looking forward to the snow melting away and eager for spring to bloom.

I’m grateful for health and family and home and a fresh start. A walk through the melting snow with the sun shining and temperatures in the 50s was a sweet spot today. So was gathering with friends we hadn’t seen in too long after church.

Just a few days ago I felt defeated and weary. Now I’m feeling ready and hopeful. Transitions can be rough, but ultimately I’m thankful for new mercies and new seasons.

I'm glad I was able to contribute to "Songs of Hop I'm glad I was able to contribute to "Songs of Hope (Vol. 2)", which was compiled by fellow writers @kerilynnsnyder & @sarah_e_frazer. This devotional spends 31 days in the Psalms.

I share about Psalm 68 and how God built a sanctuary for me at our house in the country and how I want to share that with others. I end the devotional with these questions and a prayer:

"Songs of Hope" offers encouraging truth to bring hope to your weary soul. The devotional is a digital product so you receive the PDF immediately and can read it on any device.
