1. My 20th high school reunion is on my calendar. I know, I don’t know how that’s possible either.
But, hey, a couple of my actual friends from high school are planning on coming and the reunion is going to be at Churchill Downs, so that seems like a win-win situation.
2. Gathering with internet writer friends in person isn’t as scary as it sounds. I’m so glad this group of friends carved out time to be together and help each other in our callings to share stories. {Yes, of course, I wrote a whole post about that.}
3. Watching “Survivor: Game Changers” is especially entertaining. These players have played before and bring reputations and past experiences with them. Yes, “Survivor” is still on TV, and I’m glad about that.
4. A book can focus on one subject but impact more than that one area in life. I guess I didn’t learn this for the first time, but “Never Unfriended” by Lisa-Jo Baker is about friendship but has crept into my marriage, perspective on local service & church, and everyday purpose as a mom.
I’ve written one post about something the book taught me, and I expect to write more. I’ve also shared recently on Facebook a snippet of one of my real-life friendships. Oh, and the book officially releases next week, so be sure to preorder it now for some extra goodies.
5. A hard thing I’ve been dealing with Ben isn’t the worst thing in the world. I mean, I have always known this, but I was reacting like it was because I was tired and out of ideas.
Pardon the vagueness, we’ve just had a hard time parenting a situation with Ben and I’m grateful for new perspective that my husband encouraged, even if we still don’t have the answers.
6. I may like podcasts after all.
I listened to my first one – This House with Kory and Katie – because my friends started it recently and I wanted to hear what they had to say. I listened while I was cooking dinner. I realized even though I’m very much a visual learner who gets distracted during audio books, I’m a great multi-tasker, so maybe podcasts are a good fit.
Plus, Katie is my friend and I like learning from her during our Bible studies, so now I get pretend to hang out with her and her husband more often. {I sent out a newsletter today to my email friends about this, so if you have haven’t subscribed, you should go ahead and do that.}
7. Being on steroids – shots and oral – for almost a month wrecked me. I mean, this isn’t surprising, but I didn’t expect to be under their influence for so long BUT THE POISON IVY WOULDN’T GO AWAY. But, finally, it did, thankfully.
