My husband gave me a hammock for Christmas, but we just got it out this week. Even the {mostly} South, December was a little cold to sit out and enjoy it. And then by the time the weather warmed up, we knew we were moving, so I didn’t want to get it out of the box in which it was conveniently packed. So, here we are in August, unpacking a Christmas present.
Of course, now I have 33 acres to look out upon from my front porch, which is where the hammock currently lives.
(I should clarify, I say front porch, and it is, but our house faces our part of our property, not the road, which is a bit unusual. This also means we use our side door and not our front door, which, honestly, fits our family’s personality better. We aren’t really front door people; we come in the side and track grass and dirt in with us. THIS is why we got rid of the white carpet before we moved in. Okay, so, there is more information than you probably desired about our house. I keep wanting to say new house, but I’m not sure that’s accurate. We’ve lived here for two months.)
Like the hammock, I’ve had plans for a blog redesign and migration from Blogger to WordPress for as long as I knew we were moving. It’s all connected in my head because for a few weeks this past spring, I spent entirely too much time thinking about colors as I picked paint colors, laminate wood flooring, and new blog colors. It was like two renovation projects at once.
I ran into some unexpected delays with the first person I hired to help me with the technical side of this blog move. So then I waited awhile. And then I hired someone else.
Designer Traci Michele took my thoughts on fonts and colors to make something beautiful for my online home. Then site developer Mandy Roberson did the behind-the-scenes work I needed. They were gracious and responsive. Without reservation, I recommend them, if you need these kind of people in your life.
Meanwhile, I don’t have a hammock for you, but I do have a lovely picture of a porch swing that I’d like to share with you while we share our stories. So, welcome. I hope you stay awhile. I also invite you to keep the conversations going on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or in your inbox. Let’s do this life together, friends.
Hey! I have yet to hang my hammock this summer on my country hill in Maine, but I sure would like to sit a spell and visit in this lovely new home of yours. Congratulations on having the courage to take on a whole redesign of your blog. What a great new look! I’ll be back to update your button on my blog soon.
Thanks, Michele! Maine is lovely – we vacationed there in September 2011 and LOVED it. If you’re ever in Kentucky, let me know. 🙂
Both of your “homes” are just lovely, Kristin! May God bless both and use them for His glory in ways you could not even imagine! Blessings!!! xo
Thank you, Joanne!

Thank you, Dawn! I’m grateful for your encouragement.
I love the picture of the view from your porch! That looks so peaceful. And I love the new blog design!
Thanks, Mary! You should come visit the view in real life sometime. 🙂
Love the new view, friend! Love YOU! And yes, Traci is fabulous, isn’t she!!
Wait, I don’t think I knew you had worked with Traci. Or maybe I did but didn’t realize it was the same Traci. Either way – love you! And thanks for your sweet comment.
I just love the new look on your blog! It’s nice and cheery! I’m sure you and your family are enjoying the sprawling acreage at your new place which looks serene and beautiful from this picture! I’m excited for you to have these new spaces to enjoy.
Blessings,
Leslie
It’s a work in progress out here, but we are loving it! Hope to see you soon!
Very nice! Glad things are good for you…and real…that is an excellent combination.
Hi, Lynn! Thanks for your kind comment. Hope you and your family are well!
I love the new look! It is comfortable and homey! Grabbing my new Three Word Wednesday button while I am here.
Yes, so glad you’re grabbing the new button! Thanks for your encouragement.
your new blog design is gorgeous, and thanks for the button! I’m considering adding it to all my old Three Word Wednesday posts.
I mentioned updating my site; I’ve been doing ongoing and serious blog updates for the past few months, but mainly wanted time to add a few more client pieces to my design site:
