Everlasting God

September 15, 2010 by Kristin Leave a Comment

Strength will rise
As we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Waiting is inevitable. But God will give us His strength …

even when we’re ready for the day to end because we know that His mercies are new every morning,

even when I didn’t expect this season of busyness to be so hard on me, someone who thinks she’s independent and strong but misses her husband when she doesn’t see him for lunch and dinner in the same day,

even when I know my heart is being transformed so I can be a better wife and husband yet I don’t really know what I’m waiting for.

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our strong deliverer
You are the everlasting God

I’m not in control. God is reigning over this world,

over my life,

over my family,

over my heart,

over my schedule,

over my to-do list,

over my chores

and over my fears.

I have hope.

I am delivered.

And I have an everlasting God to thank.

Today.

And tomorrow.

I’m not certain what tomorrow will bring, but I am promised that my God will be with me.

And He’ll deliver me from the temptation to be a perfectionist in my marriage,

in motherhood,

and in friendships.

And one day I’ll figure out that when I let go, life is more relaxing,

filled with more surprises and fulfilled promises,

less complicated

and oh-so much more freeing.

The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary …

I grow weary. And sometimes I believe that’s God calling me to rest.

And other times it’s God calling me to let go,

and let him reign over me, my heart and my life,

where He belongs,

where He promises to care about the details of my day,

where He can see the big picture and orchestrate a perfect journey for me to get to wherever I’m going from here.

And this does not make him weary

because He’s everlasting.

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

He’s my defender,

especially when I’m weary and cranky.

So maybe I should let Him defend me while I choose to rest in Him,

in His comfort,

in His promises,

in Him alone.

My husband would probably appreciate me resting with my everlasting God before I explode with my frustrations that are exaggerated because I’m frustrated with

things out of my control,

people’s responses that I can’t control,

moments that I wish I could do over,

and busyness that is temporary and passing.

Instead let me have a heart full of praise

because God is everlasting and He’s on my side.

I found myself singing this at the top of my lungs on lunch break at the office and crying after I read your thoughts. Thankfully I am the only one here now and i can do that without embarassement. I loved it and you for writing it.

About Me

Telling stories is my therapy and I love sharing them with friends on my porch.

The main characters in my stories are my entrepreneur husband, our high school girl who never forgets, our middle school boy who has no fear, and our joy-filled first-grade girl. As we live out our stories, we seek God as the author of them all.

So many of my Facebook friends shared lovely pictu So many of my Facebook friends shared lovely pictures of their daughters yesterday for the completely made-up National Daughters Day. Regardless, today I'm all in my feelings about my daughters.

They're 16 and 8 right now. Both of their classes have been studying ancient Egypt and had a joint feast today. Sweet, huh?

BUT THEN TIMEHOP GOT ME! Apparently, NINE years ago today, when Cate was a second-grader, her class had an Egyptian feast. I think about a particular picture of Cate and her friend Kilee from that day AND THEN IT CAME UP IN MY TIMEHOP TODAY. Facebook also told me that same day nine years ago, Monica and I became Facebook friends. We probably were at the Egyptian feast and decided we'd be friends because our girls were friends. Y'all, God has been so good to me through my friendship with Monica. Our families click in a special way with our three sets of same-aged kids, most of whom have been adopted.

Anyway, my daughters. They're lovely, funny, and smart. I love that Cate helped Rachel with her Egyptian eye makeup this morning and made her a Nutella and banana sandwich. I love that they got to have a party today at school together. I love that even though they're eight years apart, they're sisters.

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do. 💛

I was thankful for some rest time on the couch on I was thankful for some rest time on the couch on Saturday afternoon — and a chance to finish this suspense book.

“Between Two Strangers” by @katewhite_author had such an intriguing plot that pulled me right in. I was close to figuring out how it was all intertwined, but I didn’t quite get there through all the twists. Good, quick read!

You’re a light wherever you go! And you like to You’re a light wherever you go! And you like to go! You’re always making friends, asking about our next adventure, wanting to know what’s next, and talking if you’re not singing. You’re the joy our family needed in 2015 and you continue to be the one who makes us laugh and love better than we did before we knew you.

... You ask a million questions, know the words to thousands of songs, have so many ideas, and still try to sneak into my bed at night. You say I’m the best snuggler in this family. I’ll take it – and your hugs and love, although the middle of the night will never be my favorite time.

Happy birthday to the girl who loves loudly!
